In among the flower beds where we slept with our heads resting upon the petals of the lilies our dreams had a tendency to evaporate in the morning sunshine but they were so soon replaced by other dreams that it was as if someone was trying to make us believe that everything in our lives was good but we could not even begin to figure out who that someone might be.

and an emptiness that seemed endless.
