Listen: I’ve listened to that guitar 1000 times & nothing ever changes except the colour of your hair

I know you’re angry. The world
Sucks. But at least it’s reliable:
It’s always sucked. Let’s enjoy it.

Politics is not Sunday Night at the London Palladium
Although sometimes it tries to be.

Happy Happy Happy
No bugs in the water system
Joy unlimited
The disinfectant coursing through our veins

The air smells of clean living
(but thunder clouds beyond the hills)

Allotment Poem #3

The difficulty of the tomato
Is not really a difficulty at all
We all of us need sun and rain

It loves a house of glass

Welcome to our town.
There is a temple, although prayer is futile and faith has been mislaid.
There is a great wall surrounding us but peeking over it is not allowed.
There is a valley, or rather our town is in a valley.
There is an aero institution. I don’t know what it means either.
There is a petrol warehouse. It’s full of petrol. NO SMOKING.

Around the brussels sprout plants
We are reminded of how
Often we make our own problems

What’s the point of
Post-Its that don’t stick
& a KFC out of chicken at 11.30 in the morning

or, for that matter,
asking these questions
