I explain morning as the period between sun up and lunchtime but
here I am, in this, narrowing it down to the time when
I rise and shine and leap from bed into the day to bathe, eat, dress, and so on.

Sometimes we started working on songs and they didn’t get very far past instrumentals with no lyrics or at most a few fragments of lyrics….. “Child Is Father To The Man” was like that….. It was based on something by Karl Menninger, a psychiatrist who had interesting theories about mental health and mental illness, and how people develop…… Someone, maybe Van Dyke [Parks], also told me there was a similar idea in a poem by Wordsworth.
