T.S. Eliot’s poem “The Waste Land” changed poetry and was spot on (Well done!) in the way it reflected the modern world.
I am expecting my poem “Baked Beans” (it’s a pantoum with a bit of rondel thrown in) to do something very similar.

Although in truth it was an option we didn’t have

Although as result of legislation introduced during the previous administration
Drinking chocolate was also being mentioned as a viable alternative

It was not that we had been unnerved by the abundance of parasols
As we strolled this afternoon along the banks of the local waterway
But that we had furnished our home en France with nothing but baskets

…. the gods who, in their usual carefree manner, immune to malady,
A little angry and a tad agitated, have become tearful, albeit unencumbered
By anything that could be described as duty or task or “that other thing”
